Callaghan Innovation Award Drives Gentrack’s Global Reach

Gentrack, a global provider of specialist software solutions for energy utilities, water companies and airports, will receive a Callaghan Innovation Growth Grant to further grow its Auckland-based research team.

The $2.1 million grant, spread over three years, will support a further $10 million investment by the New Zealand owned company to expand its research and development team by approximately 60 per cent by 2016.

Gentrack Managing Director James Docking says the Growth Grant will drive further development of its specialist billing and customer management software product for utilities, Gentrack Velocity, and its comprehensive airport management system, Airport 20/20.

“New Zealand’s energy market is perceived as one of the most innovative on the global stage and Gentrack has been part of that innovation. Now the deregulation of energy and water utilities in major markets and the expansion of international air travel are creating substantial additional opportunities for the Company. Gentrack’s reputation of installing proven systems on time and on budget is a significant advantage in an industry plagued by budget blowouts and delivery overruns.”

“The foundation of Gentrack’s success against some of the big names in the industry is the close working relationship we establish between our customers and our New Zealand based experts. The ongoing accountability for the end-to-end supply chain, and the elimination of risks and costs that are often associated with third party consultants and system integrators also make for very satisfied customers.”

Gentrack customers already comprise marquee brands including Hong Kong International Airport, Terminal One at JFK International in New York, Sydney and Auckland airports, Sembcorp Bournemouth Water, as well as leading Australasian utilities including New Zealand energy companies Genesis Energy, Meridian Energy, Trustpower and Vector.

“The Company’s commitment to ongoing research and development to meet the rising expectations of our customers and their ultimate end users is essential to our future growth and the 20 year plus relationships we look to establish with our customers.”

Gentrack’s global business generates more than two thirds of its revenues.

“The Callaghan Innovation Growth Grant is Government recognition of the potential to use the agility of New Zealand’s talented software designers to expand Gentrack’s global footprint with leading solutions that actually deliver results.”
