Ecotricity partners with Gentrack and Amber to empower customers to turn their green energy into a new revenue opportunity

London, 14 May โ€“ Gentrack (NZX/ASX: GTK), the leading next-generation utility solution provider, has announced expanding its partnership with Ecotricity, Britainโ€™s first green energy company and Amber to bring dynamic energy pricing to households with solar panels, home batteries, and electric vehicles.

Ecotricity will empower customers to shift their energy use to when itโ€™s cheapest and sell back excess power when prices are high, reducing bills in the process and unlocking a new revenue opportunity.  In short โ€“ it turns homes into intelligent, responsive parts of the grid.

This development helps solve one of the key challenges of renewable energy: balancing supply and demand. With the right tools and incentives, homes can play a vital role in this โ€“ reducing bills for customers and contributing to grid stability at the same time.

This next step in the energy transition will give households the power to manage their energy usage based on real-time market pricing. By integrating cutting-edge, smart energy tech from Australian innovators Amber, alongside Gentrackโ€™s next-gen billing platform.

The move follows Gentrackโ€™s recent investment in Amber and reflects a broader strategic push towards integrated, digital-first energy platforms that align with the UKโ€™s net zero ambitions.

Dale Vince, Founder of Ecotricity, said:

โ€œThis is the next stage of evolution for the energy market โ€“ smart, flexible, and low carbon. Weโ€™re empowering our customers to turn their homes into extensions of the energy grid. That means households will have visibility and control over when to buy, store, or sell electricity โ€“ using technology that was previously out of reach to most.ย

โ€œWeโ€™re really pleased to be working with Gentrack and Amber to bring this to our customers. Itโ€™s about giving people the tools to take control of their energy, reduce their bills and support the transition to 100% green power.โ€ย

Mike Carruthers, General Manager, EMEA at Gentrack said:

โ€œAs the energy sector embraces digital transformation and sustainability, this partnership marks a key step in enabling smarter, data-driven choices for consumers. With this rollout, Ecotricity and Gentrack are helping the UK meet its energy transition goals by giving households and businesses greater control and visibility, empowering them to actively contribute to achieving net zero.โ€ย

Dan Adams, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Amber added:

โ€œThis rollout is particularly exciting for us at Amber. Australia has been a postcard from the future in terms of energy consumption, and itโ€™s fantastic to see the UK joining us in our vision of empowering customers to become active players in energy transition. Weโ€™re thrilled to support Ecotricity and Gentrack in helping consumers rethink how they buy and use energy.โ€ย
