Gentrack Velocity billing deployed into the cloud

31 May 2010: Gentrack is pleased to announce the successful deployment of its Gentrack Velocity billing platform into Amazon’s EC2 infrastructure cloud.

Providing significant cost savings, utilities looking to minimise infrastructure investment and achieve greater business flexibility can now benefit from Gentrack Velocity’s specialist billing capabilities without a traditional deployment model on local IT infrastructure.

“This is an innovative work program that we were delighted to be involved with,” said Gentrack CEO James Docking, “especially given the current spotlight on cloud technologies and solutions. Gentrack Velocity in the cloud, with its web-browser based user interface and proven webservices, provides a great opportunity for utilities to minimise cost to serve and to effectively manage a myriad of billing and customer engagement activities while avoiding the capital investment typically required with traditional deployment methods.”

Gentrack software is now used in over 40 energy and water utilities internationally including the UK’s newest energy start-up OVO Energy, and Dalkia Ireland – the energy division of Veolia Environment employing over 300,000 people worldwide.

“Our international footprint is growing rapidly as utilities see the value Gentrack Velocity can offer over larger competitors. Deploying Gentrack into the cloud simply provides an alternative model that enables energy and water utilities to maximise their profitability and take stock of their investment priorities”.
