Gentrack Velocity to bill United Water customers in Auckland Super City

23 May 2011: Gentrack, a leading provider of software for water utilities, has been selected to deploy its specialist water billing and CRM software to Auckland based water company United Water, a wholly owned subsidiary of Veolia Water, one of the world’s largest water companies.
A run of recent contract wins for Gentrack in water sectors across New Zealand and Australia is particularly pleasing for Gentrack CEO James Docking as the company experiences significant demand for its software and growth in energy, water and airport markets.
“We are experiencing an immense level of demand for all of our software products, including water utilities in reforming markets across Australia looking for value based solutions rather than products from large generalist ERP vendors.  The opportunity to work with United Water is exciting given the growth they too are experiencing in the provision of water services across the new Auckland Super City, Ruapehu, Waitomo, Waikato, Wellington, Queenstown and Thames-Coromandel regions.”
United Water employs over 500 staff across New Zealand and Australia to manage over 7 billion dollars worth of water network assets. Delivering sustainable water services to over 350,000 customers in New Zealand, United Water works to ensure the continued security of future water supply, including the innovative systems required for the efficient use and reuse of water and wastewater.
“Gentrack beat a variety of local and international competitors in a bid to continue working with Veolia” said Docking. “Last year, we successfully deployed Gentrack Velocity at Dalkia in Ireland, the energy division of Veolia Environment, to support its District Heating Schemes. The flexibility of our billing and CRM software and our proven agile project methodology positions Gentrack well with these opportunities.”
Gentrack’s win at United Water follows a number of recent successful contract wins and projects in Australia’s water industry. Gentrack Velocity has been deployed at Onstream to bill all water customers across Tasmania, and is currently being implemented at Allconnex and Unity Water who serve over 1 million water customers in South East Queensland.  Developed from Gentrack’s head quarters in Auckland, its software is now used across five states and territories of Australia as well as many energy retailers and network companies in New Zealand.
“The value of water and water network infrastructure is rapid growing,” Docking concluded, “and water operators like United Water need flexible systems to drive sustainable water practices and stronger investment decisions. Employing local talent to develop and deploy the Gentrack Velocity product, our goal is to ensure that United Water has the tools to bill and manage its growing customer base.  United Water can be assured of our long-term commitment to the partnership and delivery of a specialist billing and CRM platform that offers the flexibility and financial returns to support their business into the future.”
