Gentrack wins at the 2013 New Zealand International Business Awards

The 2013 New Zealand International Business Awards were held in Auckland last night with Gentrack taking away the award for Best Business Operating Internationally ($10-50 million).

Gentrack winsHead quartered in Auckland, Gentrack was one of seven finalists in the $10-50 million revenue category following an extensive application process run by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and ANZ. Designing and building software for energy utilities, water companies and airports, Gentrack has consistently achieved year on year growth into international markets according to CEO James Docking.

“We are hugely proud of the success of the Gentrack business. It hasn’t been easy taking on the big boys off shore, but we’ve managed to win some great business that’s now providing a strong platform for continued growth in utilities and airport sectors.”

Over 70% of Gentrack’s revenues are from international projects in core markets including Australia and the UK with its utilities billing and CRM software, Gentrack Velocity, and North America, Europe and Asia with its Airport Information product, Airport 20/20. To date, over 150 utilities and airports use Gentrack software in 20 countries – all achieved while retaining its product R&D in Auckland continued Docking.

“We have a very successful approach to product R&D, employing and retaining technical development expertise in New Zealand where we can control costs and product quality, as well as regular delivery of new product offerings. Over the last 25 years, the products have evolved with market trends and reforms, an area of particular strength for us having been through the energy and water reforms across New Zealand and Australia.  We’re now exporting this expertise into new markets like the UK water sector where similar sector reforms are driving demand for our software.”

Gentrack also boasts a successful software solution used by airports in New Zealand and internationally to efficiently manage airport resources and assets.  Its latest wins include Hong Kong International Airport, Sri Lanka  CAA and Birmingham Airport where it is delivering products to handle mission critical areas including Resource Management, Aeronautical Billing, Collaborative Decision Making, Operational Database and Flight Information Display.

“Like the energy and water sectors, airports are looking for proven, value based solutions to support their expansion plans and to enable greater cost and operational efficiencies. Airport 20/20 is all about managing the complex flows of operational data across an airport, to enable strong decision making and optimisation of airport resources.”

Docking puts the success of Gentrack on the international stage down to its approach to business and a ‘can do’ attitude that New Zealand companies like Gentrack are reputed to bring to the table.

“Our people our simply outstanding and this recognition is testament to their commitment to our products and customers globally.  They have the ideas for the products and the energy to travel the world to work alongside our customers to understand their businesses and challenges before designing and delivering great solutions that we can commercialise across all our core markets. At the end of the day, we are a people business that just happens to have great software.”
