The energy landscape is changing rapidly, and utilities are working to keep pace with new customer expectations, increasing competition and the wider energy transition. Paolo outlines the major forces driving change. Rather than viewing transformation as a one-off shift from one steady state to another, Paolo explains that utilities are entering a period of continuous evolution. Future readiness means choosing technologies and partners that enable flexibility, agility and openness to new innovation as the market develops.

A central theme is ownership. Utilities want to control their business models and service experiences without relying heavily on external support. Modern, modular platforms are helping retailers adapt quickly and shape their own transformation journeys.
