Tech-driven challenger bright makes energy better in Ireland

New electricity supplier launches energy supply for a digital age with a 100% green, affordable energy offer to all-Ireland’s consumers.

bright are on a mission to bring 100% green electricity to create Ireland’s largest community of green energy users, using power generated only from wind, solar, biomass and hydro.  That’s good news for the planet, but this approach is also great news for consumers.

The new supplier, which leverages experience in the energy industry with Evermore Energy of brothers Ciaran and Stephen Devine, successfully launched in the Republic of Ireland in July 2020 and in Northern Ireland in November 2020.  In partnership with the Maxol Group, Ireland’s largest forecourt operator, bright was created to simplify the over-complicated energy market and make it easier for customers to buy electricity. The company is now helping all-Ireland to become greener with increased consumption of renewable energy.

bright’s one simple tariff is Northern Ireland’s cheapest Standard Variable Rate Tariff [1] with no tie-ins, is 100% green and comes with something else – cool tech; with an app that makes life easier and a simple-switch promise.  Thanks to the unique and powerful app, new community members just need a recent bill, their bank details and a meter reading and bright does all the rest to manage their switch.

To make this simpler, greener offer possible, bright selected Gentrack, a leading supplier of cloud-first billing and customer experience solutions to deliver their new offer for Irish consumers.  Gentrack’s solution allows high-performing innovative apps to support outstanding customer experience, bringing efficiency in operations and helping to drive transformation in the management of one of the world’s most precious resources, electricity.

bright CEO, Ciaran Devine said: “bright is a brand-new energy supplier, with an HQ in Belfast. At this critical time as we face the challenges of climate change, people shouldn’t have to pay more to do good, and with bright, they don’t have to.”

“At bright, we’re offering something different to anything else on the market. This is energy supply in a digital age that benefits customers and protects the world around us. We’re confident that for anyone who joins the bright community it will be their last switch.”

“A huge part of our focus has been on creating a user-experience like no other. We’ve all seen recently how technology can make our lives easier – bright is another example of this. Our specially designed app gives our customers more control over their bills and will save them time and money.”

Gentrack CEO, Gary Miles said: “Our customers across the world are the utilities of tomorrow and this market-leading offer from bright is another example of a utility using technology to drive transformation.  We are so proud that our cloud-first high performing technology was chosen by bright, enabling them to support digital engagement and deliver outstanding customer experience” We fully support bright’s mission of bringing simplicity to Irish consumers.”
